I have a great deal of experience in entertainment publicity, including representing many independent films and web series’. I began my career in publicity at Sony Pictures Entertainment, where I worked on the publicity campaigns of over 100 films. I then joined a prominent public relations firm as a senior publicist, eventually being promoted to vice president. There, I helped guide the campaigns of their roster of films, as well awards campaigns. In January of 2007 I formed my own public relations firm, MJK Public Relations. I'm quite adept at garnering local / regional press, as I've guided film festival promotions and achieved successes at The Palm Springs International Film Festival, The HBO/US Comedy Arts Festival and SXSW, as well as publicized individual films at numerous other festivals around the country. Additionally, I coordinated the PR efforts for a Direct-to-DVD production/distribution company.
